Central venous catheter placement

Many of the complications of central venous catheter (CVP) placement and are common to all procedures for placement of vascular catheters.

Complications particular to central venous catheter placement are:

 

pneumothorax

A pneumothorax results from puncture of a lung. 

 

Needle being inserted into the subclavian vein through a supra- (above ) clavicular puncture.
