The following clinical trials, for the treatment of various brain and spinal tumor conditions, are available for your participation.  Those marked with an asterisk (*) are done in conjunction with either the Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG) or the Radiation Oncology Group (RTOG), both national multi-institutional cooperative groups.

Primary Brain and Spine Tumors

Glioblastoma

  • Phase III Multicenter Study of Intratumoral/Interstitial Therapy with TransMID compared to Best Standard Care in Patients with Progressive and/or Recurrent, Non-Resectable Glioblastoma Multiforme.
  • Phase III Randomized Evaluation of Convection Enhanced Delivery of IL13-PE38QQR Compared to Gliadel Wafer with Survival Endpoint in Glioblastoma Multiforme Patients at First Recurrence

Anaplastic Astrocytoma

Dr. Thomas Chen oversees the Glioma Research Group, an alliance of USC Laboratories dedicated to developing treatments for primary Central Nervous System tumors. By combining and sharing the expertise of specialists in cellular and molecular biology, radioation and surgical treatments of gliomas, the Glioma Research Group is a multidisciplinary unit uniquely suited to pursuing all avenues for treating this devastating disease.
